One lunges at me, dagger raised, I dodge, countering with a kinetic blast that shatters his ribs, sending him flying into a stalactite with a crunch. The battle's a blur: Zane's acrobatics, flipping over a warrior, stabbing mid-air; Kaelen's brute force, beheading an elite with a spinning slash; Ardyn's spells weaving barriers, deflecting arrows that ping off like rain. Screams echo, Guild members rallying, but their post-orgy haze slows them. A female assassin hurls poisoned darts; I deflect with a shield rune, then Zane pounces, slitting her throat in a spray.

“Didn’t want to.” Alpha Tristan drew his sword. Pearl mirrored him—tiny fist glowing. Luis spoke her name and shadows bent away. Dante chuckled. “Ah. Your army… lovely.” He lunged—fast as death. Tristan met him first, steel clashing. Sparks flew. Steel sang. I unleashed a pulse of wind to sweep Dante’s robes back, exposing his rune scars. He snarled. I advanced, claws ready, voice tight. “This ends now.” He circled. “Has your rage become your soul?”

Jon bellowed somewhere ahead. Zarek surged forward to obey, cutting down three beasts with brutal efficiency. Rune and Lioren fought back to back, a deadly dance they had long perfected. The Gate of Fire shrieked in defiance, its defenders throwing everything they had to hold the line. But Veyra was unstoppable. A scream pierced the roar of battle—sharp, raw, and horribly familiar. Veyra whirled around, heart lurching. Rune. He staggered, a dark stain blooming across his side where a corrupted wolf's talons had torn through his armor.

“Elara has terrorized us for long enough. Today, we take back what’s ours. We fight for our pack, for our family, for our future. Together, we will win.” A cheer rose from the pack, their unity a powerful force. “Cain, keep the others back! She’s mine.” Cain hesitated for a heartbeat but obeyed, rallying the remaining forces to hold the line. Dorian charged at Vendetta, his claws glowing with golden energy as he unleashed a flurry of strikes. Vendetta countered effortlessly, her movements fluid and unyielding. Their battle was a clash of light and darkness, each strike reverberating through the forest.

I didn’t need to see them to know they were ahead—I could practically feel them. When I broke through the trees, I came across a battlefield. Four twisted abominations lashed and snarled like wild dogs set on fire, circling Ryker and my deltas. Three of the horrendous creatures already lay on the ground, lifeless, but one of them still twitched like it hadn’t figured out it was dead just yet. It must have been a recent kill. Suddenly, one of the creatures lunged at them, and Kael and Juno lunged at it in response. They fought in sync, doing their best to go against the creature.

Harlie waved her hand in front of Brielle’s face, trying to regain her attention. “Earth to Brielle.” Scarlett chuckled. “Care to fill us in?” Brielle took another sip of her latte, as an unwarranted grin formed on her lips, before taking a deep breath. “Ryker is dropping out of the Battle of the Alpha’s.” Both Harlie and Scarlett shot off the bed as they exclaimed in unison. “What?” They briefly glanced at each other, noticing they had done the exact same thing at the same time, eyeing each other cautiously.

Chapter 46: The battle continues The two armies clashed in a frenzy of steel and magic. Emilia and Arachne faced off, their eyes locked in a fierce stare. The air was electric with tension as they began to circle each other, their hands weaving intricate patterns in the air. Luna, in her werewolf form, charged forward with a mighty roar. Her fur was a brilliant gold, and her eyes shone like stars as she tore into the dark forces. Her claws flashed in the fading light, striking true and finding their mark time and again as the battle continued.

Then he threw himself at me. Once again, I dodged and dodged. It became almost like a dance. Jean would move forward and I would move back. Each miss he gave at me only seem to piss him off more. It wasn't helping that the two auburn males behind watching was giving him hell. "Ah shit. You gonna let that little bitch show you up?" They both mocked. "Wait until the camp hears how you got your ass beat by this little girl!" After about ten tries, Jean had had enough. He stopped and lowered himself down and began to shake. I knew well enough that he was preparing to shift. Though I have sparred against wolves, I usually had some form of weapon.
