Lowell Morgan appeared, tall and distinguished as always, his silver hair perfectly styled and his expression carrying that familiar mix of authority and paternal concern.
“It’s good to see you home, Destiny,” he said, his voice steady. “We need to talk.”
Destiny nodded, already sensing the seriousness behind his words. She kissed Kevin’s forehead once more and ruffled his hair. “Go play with your toys for a little while, sweetheart. Mommy will be right back.”
Kevin reluctantly let go and ran off toward the living room, where his blocks and toy cars waited. Destiny gestured toward her private study down the hall. “Let’s go to my office.”
