”Nice flowers.” Wendy commended as soon as Rebecca entered the room. Rebecca on the other hand didn’t pay attention to what was said. She was lost in a world of her own thought. She didn’t see the face of the biker, but from the sound of his voice, she could tell who it was. It was a voice she would recognize anytime, any day. The voice of the devil who haunts her in her dream. A pat on the shoulder brought her back to reality. She jerked and the flower slipped from her hands, but Wendy caught it before it could fall to the floor.

“You know I could make all this go away. I can make the charges disappear, but I’m going to need something from you first.” I knew what it was before he even said it. “Sign the papers,” he leaned down to tuck a strand of hair from my face while maintaining eye contact with me. “And then disappear from my life, forever.” He said it with so much certainty that I felt like he had driven a stake clean through my heart, impaling me with his words. I blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of it all before it finally settled in my head. Curtis Blackwood was the fucking devil.

His screams become louder, and I know his hand and fingers are broken. “Cal, please leave my main guy alone!” I turn hearing Rose. “He insulted her.” I step down harder, his screams causing everyone to stop and watch.

They shift like Rorsarch ink blots. Men of many names leave marks on their tithes as shifting as serpents, and Janet has not yet figured out her Tam Lin’s name. Rains come. They flood Janet’s soul. The world turns, as it would. She is three times seven years old, and that is when the Devil drags his tithe down to the depths.

CHAPTER 6 “Speaking about the devil.” Rose heard Dale say and she froze. She suddenly regretted eavesdropping on them, she should have left when she had the opportunity to. “How dare you!” Grim’s voice thundered. Dale gave a sarcastic laugh, “She doesn't even have respect for you. Do you know she sees you as weak?” “That's not true,” Rose went on her knees and bowed to Lord Grim. “I'm sorry for my actions, it won't happen again.” Rose didn't understand why she was kneeling before Lord Grim, but she knew she had committed a serious offense, and the only way out was to ask for mercy.

She then handed me a rose, I looked at it and it was a rose of white, I have learned that rose demons give roses according to their recent activities. From the color of the rose, it seems she had been crying, white rose implies the demon is in deep pain and sorrow, I wondered why they would put me in a room with such a sad demon. I then engaged the demon in a conversation and then asked, "how long have you been here, rose demon?" She then yelled at me, "Don't call me rose demon, I have a name you know!" I didn't answer her and she said, "my name is L."
