Then said, “By preserving divergence visibility.” Damien frowned. “That sounds abstract.” Aria nodded. “It is.” A pause. “But it’s observable.” She pointed. “Right now, the dominant cluster is becoming more visible because it is more coherent.” A pause. “We need to make alternatives equally visible, even when they are less efficient.” Liam understood slowly. “So we artificially balance exposure?” Aria shook her head.

“…it’s responding unevenly.” Lyra nodded. “Yes.” The bond pulsed again. But this time It didn’t feel unified. It felt layered. Like multiple versions of the same connection were forming at once. Kael stiffened slightly. “…Lyra.” “I feel it,” she said quietly. The Consequence spoke from the distance. “Divergent structural pathways detected.” Kael looked back. “And now you’re going to do what? Warn us again?” Silence. Then: “No corrective action available.”

Elara’s voice was a ragged plea inside his helmet. "Not until it's off our tail," Kazimir’s voice crackled back, strained and breathless. The Divergent was faster than any human. It moved with a sickening, liquid grace, unaffected by the Viscosity (the thickness and resistance of the water) of the deep. It swung a jagged arm, catching Kazimir across the chest. His Ablative Armor (protective plates designed to shatter and absorb impact) sparked and broke away. He slid across the hull, his magnetic boots screeching as they fought to keep him attached to the sub as it roared toward the Spire at eighty knots.

The fracture exploded across the horizon of reality. Not slowly. Not like the earlier fractures. Violently. A jagged wound tearing through multiple worlds at once— Pulling realities into each other faster than the structure could stabilize them. The presence reacted immediately. “…containment probability decreasing…” The moving realities around them shook hard. Luke stared at the widening collapse. “…what caused that?” The presence answered in fragments. “…natural divergence… unchecked variance… escalating chain reaction…” Nyra swore under her breath.

Both are incomplete. “Elara,” Adrian says, voice tight, hand still gripping my arm. “You said you have to pick one.” “I do.” “Then do not rush it.” “I do not have that luxury.” The system pulses again. Harder. The clearing flickers, trees stretching and snapping back into place, the ground shifting like it cannot decide which version of itself to hold.
