I opened my own studio, and my days became full, vibrant, and happy. One night, Jordan stepped out of the shower, a towel slung loosely around his waist. As he turned, I caught sight of a tattoo on the small of his back. I leaned closer. It was a rose in full bloom—beside it, a little girl dancing. My fingertips trembled as I traced it, my eyes stinging. "I had it done when I was seventeen," he said softly. His gaze lowered to mine, eyes shimmering with starlight. "I wanted to keep it a secret until the day you became my bride."

He’s cute, she thought. “How are you feeling today, Jane?” he asked, flipping through her chart. “Rose,” Romilda corrected. “My name is Rose.”

Caleb forced a smile as he got more suspicious. “Don’t spend all your effort on that Doctor N. The expensive medicine he prescribed is useless, and he doesn’t look like a good person,” Rose said as she shook her head. She had seen many people in her life, and she could see through at least someone like him. Caleb consoled her a little but she immediately changed the subject. “How are things going with you and Ember? Don’t ignore her just because of this Doctor N. You still have to respect her opinion.”

Derek fired, his eyes filled with disappointment. “What will become of my brother? I hope he’s not going to die?” Kendell wept, everything was too much for her tiny brain to handle. “What needs to be done, Doctor?” Rose stood up from her seat in a flash. “What needs to be done to save my son?” She moved to the doctor faster than anyone could say “no” and grabbed him by the collar. The astonished man managed to pull her hands off his collar, and when he successfully did, after much trial, he took in a deep breath.

Martin didn't come with me for my first consultation with the doctor he'd spoken so highly about; he said something about tying up some loose ends and would be catching up with us. I still think this whole shit is just one big waste of time, but as a nurse pushes my wheelchair to a stop in front of a group of doctors and a man I recognise as the clinical director Martin told me about, my gaze zeroes in on a beautiful brunette doctor. I learn her name is Dr Rose, which, in my opinion, suits her perfectly. Pretty like a rose but prickly like its thorns, with those eyes that feel like they hold a million secrets.
