Jennifer realized it was already late. She had slept so soundly that she hadn't heard Laura ringing the doorbell. She jumped out of bed to let Laura in. "What on earth is going on?" Laura stormed in and plopped down on the couch. "Why is Maxwell marrying Rachel? Isn't he supposed to be head over heels for you?" Jennifer was stunned and looked at her in confusion. "You didn't know?" Laura immediately pulled out her phone and showed Jennifer a post. "Look at this. Lance Group has announced that Maxwell and Rachel will hold their wedding at the beginning of next month. I can't believe it. Those two ended up together! Where's the karma?"

"Dawn? Maxwell's going now! Say goodbye!" Lorelai called from downstairs. Hearing her mom, Dawn practically dragged herself out of bed. She had bags under her eyes, and her hair was a mess. "Dad is this true?....... Why am I even asking? It's not true. Of course it's not. It can't be." I smiled hopefully, though I had a feeling that this was more serious than I thought.

I could not accept it. "Why are you here?" I was dozing off when I heard some noise at the door. When I walked out, I found my parents had returned. However, Kayla was still standing at the door when I opened it, her face as pale as death. "Mom, listen to me. I really love Nate..." Before she could finish, my mother interrupted her. "You love Nate? If you love him, would you abandon him on the wedding day to see another man? If you love him, would you leave him there to be humiliated by others?"
