He looked down at the pulsing heart in his palms, then up at the cloaked figure now looming over him. The Shadow Master’s face was hidden, swallowed by the folds of shadow, except his eyes. Pale eyes that gleamed from the darkness of his hood with an eerie, cold light that seemed to pierce through Ron and settle in the marrow of his bones. Prince Ron’s chest tightened and a shiver rippled through him. He quickly masked his shock and lowered his gaze, fixing it again on the heart in his arms. “There's no use protecting this now, is there?” he whispered. “I can't even protect it properly.”

Tilting his head to get a clearer glimpse of her face, leaning dangerously closer to her but her heart simply thumped, blushing faintly by the proximity.
