Dorothy Gale Novels & Stories

ALEXANDER Dorothy was shit at her job. One week since Maeve walked out and I had spent most of it quietly doing Dorothy's work before anyone else noticed it wasn't being done. Files that came back organised in a way that made no logical sense. Meeting reminders sent to the wrong people. Calls forgotten, calls returned to the wrong contacts, a client left waiting because she couldn't locate the transfer function on a phone she had been using for three weeks. I fixed all of it without comment and went home every evening more worn down than the one before.

Dorothy explains to them all. I can barely contain Nate, knowing our mate has been starved and beaten has made us furious. We are growling, our claws elongating. “Alpha Max, if you can’t contain yourself, you will be removed,” councilman Peter tells me. “I have no note of any child being named Eve in the years when she would have been born,” councilman John informs Dorothy. “She was born Evelyn Rose Jones,” Dorothy counters. The air appears to shimmer when Dorothy speaks her name.

40 "How the hell..." Denver said in almost a whisper. Seeing the way Denver reacted to her I knew right away that she was a red flag. Before i knew it Mama G was directly in front of us. "Well well well. Denver, so we meet again?" she said. "Kaylah." Denver said out her real name. Kaylah turned to face me. "You have something that belongs to me." She said to Denver without taking her eyes off me. "I have nothing of yours." Denver said in reply to her.

I asked. “The woman we met today isn't her grandmother,” Jeremiah continued. He didn't soften the blow. “She’s a neighbor. Kelly paid her five hundred dollars to put on a show. Her name is Dorothy. Apparently, she used to be a Broadway actress back in the day. That’s why she was so convincing.”
