Standing over her is a reflection. A woman with long dark hair and lace-white skin, her eyes empty of everything except hunger.
Her mouth is stained red. Her hands drip with something warm and shining.
Dax chokes on her name. “Merrin.”
Kael’s breath stops beside me. “Gods help us.”
The reflection looks up, smiling with an impossible sweetness.
“I missed you, little brother,” she coos, and her voice is both beautiful and monstrous.
