Jade moved to sit on the bed, with her legs crossed. “What exactly is a Dragon’s mate?” “Basically, it is just like a husband and wife. It is a Dragon’s way of getting married. Except a little different. You see when a Dragon finds his mate, there is no other female for him. They are extremely loyal. His cheekbones were high and his body looked like something that had been molded by the gods. It didn’t explain why a part of me wanted to lay my head down against him. To rub my cheek against his scarred chest, press my lips against those four ragged lines. “I’m a dragon and I've claimed you as my mate.” I didn’t say anything to him, I didn’t know what that meant. A dragon, that I was his mate. How was I supposed to respond to that?

Anytime Ramsey said enjoy, it usually meant suffer. He gestured toward the sky where flags were hovering magically in the air—two sets of them, red and blue, suspended high above. “We’ll be playing a little game. Two teams. The goal: snatch the opposing team’s flag and bring it back to your side. You’ll have to fly fast, avoid incoming attacks, and—most importantly—not die.” A few nervous laughs echoed. Ramsey smiled like this was the best thing ever. “Mount your dragons.” I turned to Vermithor, who snorted softly. “A game, he says. Sounds more like attempted murder.”
