ASHES OF THE LUNA QUEEN
And out of the water, a figure began to rise, a being woven from shadow and starlight, its form fluid, shifting, endless.
The boy appeared beside Lyra, eyes wide. “That’s not Dominion.”
“No,” Lyra breathed. “That’s older.”
The creature’s voice rolled across the water like a tide.
“You woke the Dream. You divided it. Now it calls for its parent.”
Liora’s hand trembled. “The Mother?”
The being’s many eyes opened at once, shimmering like galaxies collapsing. “No, little spark,” it whispered. “The Dream before her.”
The ground quaked, the air splitting with cold. Lyra’s light flared instinctively, shielding Liora behind her. The boy’s voice was a whisper. “Lyra… we’ve just met the First Dream.”
