He begins to cough and shake uncontrollably and I watch in horror as a gush of blood and brownish-black fluid suddenly implodes, reducing him to a pile of guts, bone and fragments of skin. The room becomes unbelievably bright and I drop the crystals when the rancid smell hit my nose. I barely cover my mouth long enough to walk a few feet but it's no use. I throw up the contents of my entire breakfast, hunched over as bright red droplets of my blood begin to mix in.

Gasping for breath, I tried to sit up, but my eyes were drawn upward. Blood. A torrent of blood poured from above, cascading down like rain, drenching me in its warmth. My scream caught in my throat as the blood got into my mouth, warm and thick. I jolted awake, choking and gagging, my hands clawing at my throat as if to rid myself of the blood I had swallowed. But nothing came. No blood, no relief. My hands clutched at my chest as I wheezed, heart hammering, the terror from the dream still pulsing through me.

I gasp looking at my clock. Fuckkkkk, what’s wrong with me ? Tomorrow is a very busy day! Ow, I feel a sharp pain in my head as I stand up a cough escapes my lips and before I know it more follow and I’m coughing blood.

That I wouldn't snap back to reality and find out everything wasn't as it seemed. I should have held onto that, rather than being delusional, because it was only a dream. I sat up on the bed, my head pounding and sweat dripping down my forehead. I leaned forward as nausea surged through me. I wasn't fast enough to make my way out of bed to go relieve myself. I convulsed as I spilled the contents of my stomach on the floor. Blood. I coughed, gasping for breath, looking towards the door. My gasps and coughs were loud enough for anyone in the house to hear.

My vision blurred in and out, like I was caught in between two realms, one where I was conscious and the other where everything was numb, dark and silent. Fear and panic lodged itself at the base of my throat, and I coughed. It didn't stop at one though. One after the other, more coughs wracked through my body and with each one, I didn't miss the thick liquid dropping onto the ground in front of me. The moment the scent hit me in the nose, I realized what it was. Blood.

I started to say but a fit of cough overtook my throat. My eyes watered from the pain of coughing. I cried more as I noticed a pool of blood from where I stood on all falls coughing. I was coughing blood.My baby. I screamed internally. Please don't let anything Happen to my baby moon goddess. I prayed silently.

And then the coughing started. It hit him suddenly, violently. He bent over, his hand gripping the edge of the sink as his body was wracked with coughs. He brought his other hand up to cover his mouth, trying to muffle the sound so he would not wake the house. When the coughing finally subsided, Benjamin slowly lowered his hand. It was covered in blood. Fresh, bright red blood that had come from deep in his lungs. Benjamin stared at his bloody hand, his mind struggling to understand what was happening to him.

I ruined his life. Suddenly, I'm coughing hard. "Kaz—" My voice becomes unrecognizable mid-sound. I stumble, one hand braced against the cold hallway wall, the other pressed over my mouth. Another cough racks through me, doubling me over. Something warm drips onto my palm. No. No. No. My hand trembles as I pull it into view. Blood. My breathing quickens. "No... no, no—" My voice breaks into a raw, panicked rasp.

"Do you want to talk about the dream?" I shook my head, the vivid flashes of the nightmare still too raw. "No. It wasn't good. Terrible actually. I don't want to talk about it. Hell, I don't even want to think about it ever again." She nodded. "I get it. These meds can cause strange dreams. Sometimes they feel too real." As she tugged the blanket back, a smear of blood on the sheet caught my attention. My stomach dropped. Seeing the blood smudged on the stark white sheet threw me straight back into the nightmare.
