Blood. I woke up once again covered in cold sweat. Breathing heavily and scanning the room with eyes wide open. It sure was the scariest of all dreams I've ever had. This is happening to often these days. I thought to myself. Confused I dragged myself to the bathroom to do my business and walked to the kitchen for breakfast. Walking towards the bus-stop my mind kept wandering back to the dream. The most unusual of all kinds of dreams I have ever had. Why was I covered in blood?

"You can't run from the DNA, Graziella. You can't scrub it out. You can't bleach it away." The blood drips from her chin. Drip. Drip. Drip. It hits the floor. It spreads. It turns into a pool. "It’s cursed," she screams. "The blood is cursed!" She lunges at me. Her bloody hands grab my shoulders. She shakes me. "Cut it out!" she shrieks. "Cut it out before it eats you!" I scream. I wake up. I sit bolt upright in bed. My chest is heaving. My heart is hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. Thump-thump. Thump-thump.

The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood. I awoke with a gasp, my body drenched in sweat, my heart racing. "Dad!" I exclaimed, urgency infusing my voice. Asher, who had been keeping a watchful vigil, rushed to my side. Concern etched lines on his face as he took in my distressed state. "What's wrong, Bella? Are you okay?" Tears welled up in my eyes as I struggled to articulate the unsettling dream. "I saw... I saw Dad and Uncle. There was sadness, and then... one of them died. After that, there was bloodshed, so much blood."

Theresa asks, standing in front of me. " Water." I breathe out. " Okay." She says, rushing off. The more I cough, my throat tightens and my air supply is closing on me. I stagger back, holding onto my neck, I hold my hand against my mouth. Holding it out, I notice a red substance. Blood. I'm coughing out blood. My eyes trail up as my vision gets blurry, on the wall above, it's written two words. SAY GOODBYE. I stagger back in shock, tripping on my feet and falling on the floor, my hands planted on the cool tiles.

I can't breathe. My eyes pop open and I wake up gasping and coughing. I can't breathe. I feel the urge to cough as the smell of smoke fills my nose and I cover my nose and mouth with my hands. I look at my left and notice that my alarm clock is ringing. 5:00 a.m. Great...I had an awful dream last night...and it felt so real that I woke up to make sure it was all a dream. It was.

Just then, my mother began to cough hard, the sound of her hacking reverberating through the room. I rushed to her side, patting her back in an attempt to help her breathe. When my head comes back up a wave of dizziness hits me. I hold onto the sink as my body falters. When I look into the mirror I see five of myself, all looking pale. Is it the wine? My fears are confirmed when I cough blood into the white pristine sink. The red hue moving slowly down the drain as I start to fall. It has never been this painful before. I try to hold on tighter but my hand is slipping, my breath becoming heavier. “Drew…” I try to scream, but my body meets the floor before I can make a sound.

I pointed at her face, feeling furious. Suddenly, my throat felt hot. I could barely breathe in oxygen because of the coughing that didn't pause at all. I felt something strange happening to my body. There was a burning sensation inside my skin that made me feel petrified and uncomfortable. Suddenly, I felt a blood-like discharge coming out of my teeth that was sharp and piercing. I felt like I was waking up from a nightmare, and my vision instantly turned dark and blurry. I felt thirsty and wanted to find something that could quench my thirst. Not only that, but I felt like finding a source of blood to drink.

Their rush was too much, causing my head to ache, my nose started to bleed, and when I coughed, I coughed blood. “Breath, my dear.” I heard her voice, but I can’t grasp it. I can’t calm down as I was drowning in how fast my nightmares are clashing over each other, causing me to grumble in pain. “ARGH! MAKE THEM STOP!” I growled with gritted teeth as I was trying to suppress the pain rushing through me. "Breath.” Her voice was filled with worry despite how soft they were until I saw something through the overlapping nightmares.

I crammed the heels of my hands into my eyes, trying to stop the emotions welling there. My lungs felt absent, that same feeling when I first woke up and coughs raced up my throat. My muscles strained as I fought to get the air in but the coughs closed up all the airways I needed. I placed my hand to my mouth and when finally my coughs ceased, I looked at my hand to see a few blood droplets there. I wiped my mouth, removing the blood away.
