I think I have to get some rest. I breathed in and out, but still, it was giving me a severe headache. I gathered all my strength and went to grab a glass of water. I drank it slowly, but then my hand was shaking. I started to feel uneasy and went back to sit on the sofa, but then I didn’t expect the next thing to happen. I suddenly coughed; I thought it was just a normal cough, but when I looked into my hands, I saw blood. It made me suddenly sit on the sofa, and I already knew what was going on.

He suddenly coughed out blood, splashing it on my face, and fear gripped me as I wondered what could be wrong with him to act in that manner. My heart started beating fast as I thought of the worst thing that could happen to him. Was he having a heart attack? On the verge of dying? A torrent of thoughts raced through my mind as I gazed at him. "Cody!" He coughed out blood again, yet his eyes remained shut. "Cody..." Anxiety surged within me, fearing his critical condition. I pressed the red button beside his bed.

I couldn't hold it. Something was wrong and I had no idea what. I opened my palm to see a stain of blood. This has never happened before. What went wrong? "Is that blood?" Daven asked, grabbing my palm. I nodded, wiping it off. "Has that happened before?" She asked again, clearly worried and shocked.

When I look into the mirror I see five of myself, all looking pale. Is it the wine? My fears are confirmed when I cough blood into the pristine sink. The red hue moves slowly down the drain as I start to fall. It has never been this painful before. I try to hold on tighter but my hand is slipping, my breath becoming heavier. “Drew…” I try to scream, but my body meets the floor before I can make a sound. The beeping of machines is like a distant song that’s all too familiar. It draws me out from an otherwise dreamless sleep which feels good for a change.

Another cough tore out of me, blood gushing this time. My vision blurred. Then everything tilted, and I collapsed onto the dirt, face-first, chest heaving, blood pooling beneath me.

I'm hoping the heater kicks on soon. I grab my panties and pull them on quickly, then grab a sleep shirt and throw it over my head. It's a slow process, but finally I'm ready for sleep.
