The taste of copper flooded my mouth. When I pulled my hand away, it was bright red with blood. Not just traces—actual blood, thick and arterial, splattered across my palm and dripping between my fingers. "Kyle!" Thomas's voice seemed to come from very far away. Another coughing fit seized me, more violent than the first. Blood sprayed across the white hospital gown, across the pristine sheets, across the bedside table where my coffee cup sat forgotten. I doubled over with the force of it, my body convulsing as my lungs tried to expel something that wasn't supposed to be there.

A piercing pain at the side of chest, I could barely breathe. “I can’t…..I can’t bre…breathe” I say, as I staggered down the road. I brought my hands from my chest and stared at them. They were covered in thick red. My blood. “I can’t breathe” my eyes fluttered open, and I layer there for a minute. I was sweating all over even with the air conditioning on. “Fuck” I mutter as I sit up on my bed. I always have the same nightmares and nothing changes. I keep reliving that night in my dreams, and it won’t fucking stop

Just as I was about to lift my cup to sip more tea, I felt discomfort in my chest, and was forced to cough it out. To my horror, I coughed out blood.

The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood. I awoke with a gasp, my body drenched in sweat, my heart racing. "Dad!" I exclaimed, urgency infusing my voice. Asher, who had been keeping a watchful vigil, rushed to my side. Concern etched lines on his face as he took in my distressed state. "What's wrong, Bella? Are you okay?" Tears welled up in my eyes as I struggled to articulate the unsettling dream. "I saw... I saw Dad and Uncle. There was sadness, and then... one of them died. After that, there was bloodshed, so much blood."

When I look into the mirror I see five of myself, all looking pale. Is it the wine? My fears are confirmed when I cough blood into the pristine sink. The red hue moves slowly down the drain as I start to fall. It has never been this painful before. I try to hold on tighter but my hand is slipping, my breath becoming heavier. “Drew…” I try to scream, but my body meets the floor before I can make a sound. The beeping of machines is like a distant song that’s all too familiar. It draws me out from an otherwise dreamless sleep which feels good for a change.

I took a sip in a hurry, coughing profusely afterward. "Relax." She said, patting my back. I nodded, covering my mouth while still coughing. "Yo! Don't cough out your lungs." She whispered. I couldn't hold it. Something was wrong and I had no idea what. I opened my palm to see a stain of blood. This has never happened before. What went wrong? "Is that blood?" Daven asked, grabbing my palm. I nodded, wiping it off. "Has that happened before?" She asked again, clearly worried and shocked.

I said, stretching my hand out to hold his face and he let me. Mean Alex was not pushing drunk Kat away and I was so happy. Although I wasn't that drunk, my head throbbed so badly and my eyes were hurting as I pinched it and rubbed it now and then. I relaxed back on the car seat close to Alex and he rubbed my cheek. There was no other person in the car, so I leaned closer to him.. covering the sides of my mouth so the imaginary people would not hear whatsoever I was trying to tell him.

The coughing fit took my whole body, violently shaking my weak ribs until they felt ready to break under the pressure. Pressing my shaking hands to my mouth offered zero help. The constant coughing finally stopped after a minute of real pain. Lowering my hands, my tired eyes stared at the slick, warm wetness coating my skin. Bright red fresh blood stained my pale fingers. The red liquid stood out in sharp, scary contrast against the gray floor below. The dizziness grew quickly into total spinning. Gravity seemed to stop completely. The room tilted sideways at a harsh, crazy angle. Then my weak arms folded fully under the heavy strain of holding my chest.

She nodded, her expression filled with curiosity. "Yes, but where are we going to obtain his blood?" she asked. "Remember when I shared with you about waking up in a pool of blood?
