Christopher's POV Duncan pulled back quickly on the couch, his eyes wide open, breathing heavily. “Christopher….” The name broke out of Duncan's throat, filled with surprise and hesitation. I was too impatient, too desperate for something to hold onto in the dark. I leaned closer, shaking my head. “It's been so long, Duncan. I missed us…” Duncan's hands lifted automatically to my face. His fingers were warm against my cold, pale cheeks. He stared deeply into my eyes, his resistance melting away in an instant, and then he whispered, “Yeah, it's been so long. I missed us too.”

I catch it. Duncan doesn’t laugh. He glances back at me. I smile at him like nothing in the world could touch us. Later, in the car, he doesn’t speak. I take his hand and place it between my thighs. “I’m not letting go,” I whisper. And he melts again. --- That weekend, I curate our look for a couple’s feature in a fashion spread. The magazine doesn’t ask for him. I insist. He wears the velvet jacket I pick. I wear white—sharp contrast, soft dominance.

I didn't even want to risk him talking. "I really don't want to come between both of you...he is an able guard. What is so wrong with him just slightly coveting your prize? Huh? You both can share, right?" I could see what Austin was doing. He was doing exactly that, coming beyween them. "I do not share a thing." Duncan said, then took a step forward. Austin stepped away from them, and came closer towards me. Duncan and his guard seemed to be very close to hitting each other, while Austin stood close to me.

Having an excellent lawyer on my payroll is pricey, but it is worth it when we can hide these kinds of things. “What the hell is she doing with Dante?” I sat on the office chair across from Luka. A video of Alexa smoking and leaning against the bricked wall of cell no. 6 was on the primary screen along with other prisoners we hold captive here in New York. One of them shows the blooded image of Dante. After dealing with this bitch, that man will follow Aleckovich Orlov to hell. “I don’t know,” Luka breaths out, rubbing his temple. The dark circles around his eyes reveal that he’s been working overtime again.

Still, I caught the way Dera peeked at him when she thought no one noticed. That night, we sat down for steak and wine. Dera had cooked. Duncan talked about his kids, his job, the city he came from. Turns out, the guy was successful too. Somehow, that added to the tension. I could not shake the feeling I had just let a lion into the den. I watched as Duncan's gaze drifted over Dera’s face, then down her neck. He took his time. I could feel a charge growing across the table. "High school sweethearts?" Duncan looked at us like we were a rare find. "You don't hear that anymore."

Duncan sat down at a table in the restaurant, gesturing for Weston to join him. Weston sat down, looking at Duncan with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "So, how is he?" Weston asked, nodding towards the TV screens in the restaurant, which were all showing news footage of Reyes and his family. Duncan's expression turned sour, his eyes narrowing as he watched the footage. "I'm very sure you saw the news all over the internet," he said, his voice dripping with bitterness. "He has acknowledged Christine as his girlfriend, and now they have a daughter he never even knew about."

Duncan moved several places back, his gaze startled. “Noth … Nothing.” He stammered and looked away again, still fidgeting. Michael shook his head in disgust and decided to leave him be for the time being. The man seemed to be a weakling, but then, that was no surprise at all. Love made people weak, and this man was clearly in love. “So who has your fiancée?” “It’s … it’s Damien of Monstergate,” Duncan replied, unable to look Michael in the eyes, and for good reason too. He knew what would happen, and was not surprised when it did.

The Jacksons had gone bankrupt years ago! Back when Aria and Archer were first rumored to be together, everyone knew it was impossible. The Duncans would never allow it. Sophia’s expression darkened. “Looks like they’re not far from a wedding. Both families clearly acknowledge their relationship now—this was the parents sitting down to meet.” “And did you see the way Old Mrs. Duncan treated Rachel? They actually seemed to get along. Even Mrs. Duncan and Rachel looked surprisingly comfortable with each other. What’s going on?” someone muttered, half in disbelief, half to themselves.

What is he? Duncan extends his hand and flashes his sexy grin. "Boyfriend. I'm Kimbra's boyfriend. And it's very nice to meet you." Boyfriend. The word twists my lady parts to just the right amount of painful pleasure. Shana takes a step back and wiggles her eyebrows. "It's very nice to meet you too, Duncan. Come in. With the way the hinges were shaking, I was afraid the door couldn't take much more." Duncan looks at me, questioning if he should stay.

“Duncan.” I almost stopped breathing. Duncan was a guy I’d dated years ago. He was my first serious relationship; I guess you could say. I’d been thirteen when we started dating, and he was sixteen. We’d dated for two years, and I being as naïve as Jarren says I am, didn’t realize that the whole entire two years, he had another girlfriend at his school. “So?” I asked. “He asked about you.” “So?” I asked again. “I gave him your number. He said he wanted to maybe hang out with you sometime.”
