I lept through the final outcropping of trees and rushed towards a stunning cabin on a familiar hill. Blood scented the air. “No!” I screamed as I saw ten rogues circling a giant. A giant that was barely holding on. Carl was on his knees with blood pouring from his shoulder. “Amy.” His voice was soft, but there was nothing but relief when his eyes met mine.

She walks to the door and sniffed the air looking for the scent that drove her mad. “Yes, he’s in the middle of something though. Are you sure about this?” The beta looked at her like she was crazy, “In your pajamas and sports bra? The last time you wore something revealing I got my lip busted!” Karina ignored his blabbering and followed her mate’s scent. Half-way along the walk, Luca disappeared from beside her. In the distance she saw her mate’s small but elegant office. Before she could even near it, she heard a voice much like Ivy’s speak.

For now it swallowed the sound and moved like a shadow as he stepped away, eyes cold as flint. "What are you shaking for, Carl?" I stood my ground, my pulse a rhythmic thrum against my collarbone. "If I’m just a 'blank' without a soul, why do you look like you’re staring at a loaded gun?" Carl’s fingers whitened as he gripped the armrests of his wheelchair. The mask of the grieving, injured heir was slipping, revealing the jagged edge of the predator underneath. Behind him, the opulent foyer of the Hale estate felt like a mausoleum, smelling of expensive floor wax and old blood.

Ironically enough, she has no qualms invading other people's spaces as means of intimidation… now that I think about it, she only does this to people (Nick, for example) she knows who couldn't win against her. Whenever I'm writing a heavy scene, I was listening to Team Cherry's Hollow Knight OST: Welcome to Hollownest by Christopher Larkin for inspiration. Harry Silvers and Sean White was the easiest characters to write for me; Alastor Nyx was probably the hardest.
