he says, his voice rougher now.
I lower myself onto the mat, lying back and trying to steady my breathing. He kneels down beside me, taking my right ankle in one hand and pushing my leg up toward my chest with controlled force. His other hand presses my thigh flat against the mat, keeping my hips aligned. He leans in, his body hovering over mine, one forearm braced beside my head for leverage. His face is inches away, close enough that I can see the faint stubble on his jaw. His breath fans across my knee, then higher as he adjusts.
"Relax," he murmurs. "Breathe through it."
