Desperately, I turned and straddled him, taking out a knife from his own holster.
I plunged it into his chest repeatedly, each thrust driven by a mix of fear and fury. The blade sank into his flesh, drawing blood with every cut.
Quickly, I stood up and saw Edrick still being beaten by the other man, brutally. I rushed over, delivering a sharp kick to the attacker's side.
He stumbled sideways, giving Edrick a chance to crawl away, his face a mask of pain.
The enraged man stood up, drawing his own knife. The room was filled with the sounds of Edrick's cries and our harsh, ragged breathing. We faced each other, the tension thick in the air.
