The hunger had left me drained- physically, mentally, and emotionally. I leaned back against the wall, staring blankly ahead. It started before I went to the border to repair the barrier the hunger... it was manageable then. I thought it was stress. Or exhaustion, but after I returned, it became unbearable. It’s not just hunger, it’s like there's something inside me clawing at my sanity, pushing me to the edge until I lose control. “You’ve gone into a frenzy five times in the past month,” he said, his tone clipped. “Each time, it’s taken everything to contain the damage.”

The gravity of Nyx's situation weighed heavily on her, and she longed for a brief respite from the intensity of her work. Entering her apartment, Athena felt a sense of weariness settles within her. She needed something to lift her spirits and provide a momentary escape. In an effort to brighten her mood, she reached for her phone and selected a lively WHERE SHE GOES to fill the room. She’s sane though for what she’s gone through, not sane in the sense of everyone else. Her normal thought process is based on what she’s been through. So her sanity may be someone else’s insanity.” I looked down at him and he was eyeing me. “Just as you and I now function in a sane level, which might seem insane to others.”

I could still feel him, I didn’t know if it was real or if I was imagining it because the alternative was too painful. The mountain path to the Edge was not on any map. It lived between folds of mist, only visible to those who knew how to want it badly enough. We followed it in silence, the weight of him in my arms and Finnick at my side. Hours passed or maybe days. We reached the Edge as the stars blinked out one by one. It was not a cliff or a portal. It was a void stitched by golden thread, wide and deep, the color of bone-fire and ancient dusk.

Linda asked Bianca for a small mirror to check her neck. Sure enough, there was a deep red mark on her neck, self-inflicted from broken glass. Without saying a word, Linda lay down quietly, staring blankly at the ceiling, seemingly trying to digest what had happened. Bianca consoled her, telling her that bipolar disorder is not a rare or incurable illness, and as long as she takes her medication on time, she can manage the condition well and lead a completely normal life.

“My name is Nina Harper. I am a patient at Mountainview Psychiatric Facility. I am sick, but Edward will fix me and make me better. When I’m better, I can go home to my family.” Sometimes, my mantra still didn’t work. Once, Evil Nina, as I had come to call her, gained too much control and made me bite Edward. He hit me really hard in the face and left me in my room for hours, but once I calmed down, he came back and told me how he only hit me to bring me back to my senses. He gave me some medicine, and then I felt completely better. Evil Nina didn’t come out as strongly after that, although Edward kept giving me the medicine from that point forward. EDEN POV Everything was happening too fast… or maybe too slow, I had no idea. All I knew was that something was happening and everything else was making my blood run faster, my heart pump quicker, and my lungs work over time. It was overriding my system with what felt like a ball of fire and my mind was failing to have a firm seize on the whole situation. It was as though I was left grasping on the thinnest shards of a sanity and I was damn sure I was this close to losing it.

"Don’t leave me in this darkness." Eds was torn between fetching the doctor and staying with him, but just then, Sande walked in. She let out an excited squeal when she saw Sinjin awake, but her excitement faded when she noticed the defeated look on Eds’ face. "Bestie, what's wrong?" Sande asked, noticing Eds' distress. "Um, can you get the doctor for me, please?" Eds replied urgently. "It's important." "Okay." Despite her confusion, Sande nodded and quickly left the room to find the doctor. She returned with Dr. Dupont just as Sinjin's parents arrived. They were pleased to see Sinjin awake but became puzzled when Eds mentioned that he couldn’t see.

"You asked her to deal with me?" I did not dignify that question with an answer. Lauren only smiled. "I don't mind. As long as you're happy, you can do anything to me." Wow, she was a masochist? Never knew that. "Just look ahead, Lauren. We're done. There's no going back." That put a bitter smile on her face. She gave me a small nod and walked away. After that, she never bothered me again. Thanks to the lady's Spartan education, my partner and I moved out of the building and started our own company. We celebrated in her shop and filled the air not with cream, but the smell of barbecue.
