“Complete and utter bullshit,” Marcus agreed.
“We should tell Dad the truth about last night,” Zane said. “Embarrassment is worth clearing your name.”
“He already knows I didn’t do it,” I said. “This is just politics.”
“Stupid politics,” Darius muttered.
I knocked on the door, steeling myself for what was about to be the most humiliating conversation of my life.
“Come in,” Jadis called sweetly.
She was sitting on her bed with her ankle wrapped in a neat bandage, looking like a wounded bird. When she saw all five of us, her eyes lit up with what looked suspiciously like satisfaction.
