A collective murmur rippled through the armed guards. It wasn't a horrific alien monster. It was a young woman. She looked startlingly human, though her skin had an unnatural, almost translucent pale silver hue, and her pointed ears swept back into matted, dirt-caked silver hair. Her wide, terrified eyes were a striking, luminescent amber. "My name is Elara," she whispered, her voice cracking as she looked around the massive, pristine hangar of the ancient warship. "I am... I was a slave of the Golden Empire. A mechanic from the lower-caste worlds."

But she saw Kania’s hand pulling out to her, reaching out and was trying to grab her hair. She gripped Kania’s wrist, pulled it over, flipped her thumb and made Kania screaming in pain. “Hold your horse, Kania. Don’t make me bite the bullet and break your wrist or your finger, my dear.” Elena hissed, stared into Kania’s eyes and threw the girl’s hand. “Listen gurls, I am fucked off from being gold diggers.” She pointed her index in the front of Kania’s face and tried to warn her. She was standing at her place still and looking at Kania bending down to pick up her check book on the floor, leaving her in their scurried steps as their chuckling voices disappeared.

she screamed in delight, smearing sauce at the corner of her mouth. The atmosphere in the kitchen shifted at once - the air tightened with unspoken rules. The staff froze. All except one. And Ary noticed. Elena turned, her expression unflinching. “Hello, Mr. Banks.” She met his gaze, steady, unbowed. Then she turned away. She crouched to Ruby’s level. “Cool your jets, mini-chef Ruby,” she teased, gently removing the fork from Ruby’s hand before the girl could dart toward Ary.

The figure seemed amused. “You think you can stop me now?” it hissed. “After opening the gate yourself?” Elena’s grip tightened around the sword. “I’ll drag every soul back into that prison if I must.” The figure finally sounded uncertain. Interesting. “Who are you?” it whispered. Elena’s eyes glowed faint gold. And for one terrifying moment— she looked completely inhuman. Then she moved. Fast. Far too fast for any human eye to follow. Golden flames exploded through the study as Elena swung the sword directly through the cloaked figure.

“Breathe.” Elena sent her Mate a hopeful smile, and the astonishment on his face melted back into ease. Elena wore a light gold dress, light enough to melt into her alabaster skin. Her long white hair was down, with two braids wrapping around her crown. A diadem wrapped around her forehead with a single Moonstone in the center. Instead of flowers, she carried her daughter in her arms.

Now, they were the top students and everyone knew it. Elaine gave her dueling partner, Leana, the smallest hint of a smirk. The ginger seemed to lose her footing. Leana was always easily swayed by her emotions, something Elaine didn’t struggle with. The ginger’s feelings made her likable to her fellow students, but weak in a duel. With a swift movement of her sword, Elaine sent Leana’s weapon clanging to the ground a foot away, then held the blade to the pale girl’s neck.

The man yelled from the back of the room and that's when I knew that we're going live right now. "And we're back ladies and gentlemen! Here on today's Selina Beauty Show, we have a special guest with us. Let's give a wonderful round of applause to Miss Shay Falcon everybody! A.K.A San Francisco's Golden Girl!" The crowd starts to applaud in an excited way and I flashed a smile at the camera being rolled nearby. "Welcome Shay, how you feeling?" Selina asked me with a smile. "I'm good, thank you for having me."

Elena, who seemed to be getting quite pissed with what I was saying, gritted her teeth while darting her eyes from place to place like a wounded wolf. “Why did you bring me this? What exactly are you trying to prove?" She finally asked what I wanted to hear from her for a long while ever since the discussion started. “It's simple, my dear. I understand why you trust your friend so much. But I want to tell you that you don't even know much about your so-called friend. You only know her as the poor little lady who's trying so hard to survive. But it turns out, when she finally saw the gold, she'd tried everything she could to keep the gold away from you. That's a selfish friend, if you ask me.

She fought back the fear that wanted to come through. The corner of his mouth pulled up into a mocking grin. “You’re jumpy.” Irritation twisted inside of her. “What do you want?” “Simply checking in on the Silvercrest’s golden girl. It’s been a long time since you’ve been around here,” he commented. “Why the sudden disappearance?" Elena clenched her jaw. “Not that it’s really any of your damn business, but my team and I are in the midst of creating a very important cure. There are people who would very much like to see me out of the way so that they may take it for themselves.”

I hadn’t experienced anything even resembling peace in days. “You need to move back from the window. The voice belonged to Elena. She said it the way she said everything, without warmth, without apology, as if words were nothing more than tools she wielded to achieve an end. She was in her mid-forties, lean-jawed, with silver running through her dark hair and eyes that never stopped for long upon anything. She had been identified by Victoria as ex-Mossad. And it seemed entirely right to me when I looked at her now.
