Lane looked despondently, he wasn't ready to argue with her. “A vampire wouldn't wait for you to make a move, you need to be fast,” Marissa hollered at them. Shuddering, they repositioned before taking aim and pulling the trigger. “I think they need more training.” Back at the O'Connor's mansion. Elijah had finished researching for today. He left the library to feed, take his bath and retire to bed. He promised himself that he won't stop pushing until he found his mother. His elder brother, Aiden, wasn't in the right position to give a piece of advice or help him because they had different problems. Strolling past the hallway, Elijah's gaze caught the red amulet that was around Aiden's neck.

"I made plans, long before I knew you would come along. Everything has been set in place and pace, and I can't stop. I owe this to Dani." Breathing becomes painful. "Eliana isn't her father. She didn't have a hand in it." I pause before adding quietly, "And she is ill." "Oh, but she does. Why do you think Elijah is hell-bent on finding the right formula from his experiments? He means to turn her, seeing as there are perks to being a supernatural." It takes a moment for all of that to sink in and I have questions. "Her father trying to save her doesn't make it her fault."

Opening my eyes, I notice that the cabin is a one room loft type and Elijah has thrown me down on a huge soft bed. I bounce up as soon as I can only to find Elijah standing in front of the closed door breathing hard glaring at me. “What the hell is your problem?” I scream at him as I let out a deep breath and sit back down. “What is my problem? What about you and every time I see you! Huh, why is it you always have some guy all over you!” The sarcastic laugh that leaves me has him getting even more pissed, he staggers a step towards me. “That’s golden really, Elijah.” I state as he just stares at me. “You were the one making out with a she-wolf in the middle of the school hallway. Not me!”

What truly shattered me was realizing how much I had broken her. She had loved me once. I had been her world. And I had destroyed her. I exhaled sharply and pushed my plate away. Michael, my Beta, entered the dining hall just as I stood up. “Alpha,” he greeted, bowing slightly. I nodded at him. “Did you get more information on Melissa?” He nodded, handing me another file. “I dug deeper into her life with Elijah. They’ve been together for years, but something doesn’t add up.” I frowned, flipping through the file. “What do you mean?”

His hand reached to caress my cheeks softly and I rested in his palms. “That’s the one thing we don’t have, Denver” I replied and he squeezed his eyes shut, withdrawing his hands from me. “If I do the spell and it’s all right, do you know Elijah would not only have his little sister but he could actually have a shot at having a normal life. Do you know that?”

“Can't keep it in his pants.” “Not for long, I heard,” Amy chipped in. “These days, his longest relationship is with Henry Falconer. A dominant Omega from a prestigious family– seeing Elijah only hangs around Omega's with a status to match his own. They may hit it off, yunno.” she shrugged, tearing into her chicken wings. “That means you guys need to start taking your life seriously. I'm gonna flip if that bastard starts a family before any of us. Can't let him win that one,” she said coldly.

She smiled sweetly as he came up beside her. “Hey,” he kissed her cheek. She ran her hand up his arm and then extended it in my direction. “Elowen was about to leave. I wanted to introduce you both,” she said. I kept my eyes on her but as soon as I felt his on me, I looked at him. It was hard to hide the immense negativity I felt towards him. “This is Elowen, Arden's long lost sister, and an old friend,” Melrose introduced. “Elowen, this is my fiance, Mael Virelis. You must have heard of him.”

I just stood there, listening to him until I was certain he had finished. “What if I told you that Elyse said the same thing? She said the person that made me like that used dark magic, and she said she can smell the stench of it.” “What?!” Jonathan’s brows furrowed as he stared at me. “I asked her to look into it, to look into Blair, because even I can sense that there is something odd about her. When Aeros first threw me out, just before I ended up at Alpha Xavier’s pack, I was in the human world, and I met with a human with golden hair. She said her name was Blair, and she had given me a job and shelter.”

“My birthday. Graduation. Everything that comes after.” Kailee leaned forward. “What comes after is whatever you want.” Elora shook her head. “Not for me. Not with Micah the way he is.” A deep ache twisted inside her. “His nightmares are getting worse. I can feel them when they hit — the Spiritbond keeps pulling tighter. And my father…” Her jaw clenched. “Going to the academy, leaving home, pretending it’ll all be okay — I can’t. Not with Micah still living under that roof.”
