Elle Kennedy Books Novels & Stories

Not quite ready to face whatever her middle sister wanted to discuss, she said, "I'll be right back. Need to run upstairs for a minute." It was a foolish and unnecessary delay, but she retreated to her room, pulling out her laptop and compulsively checking email. Maybe there'd be something from Flynn. But it wasn't email from Flynn that snagged her attention. It was an email from the book editor. Hey Kennedy, I was just following up on our conversation from a few weeks ago. Tried to call you at the pub and was referred to one Flynn Bohannon. He told me about your mother. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know you're dealing with a lot, but I just wanted to keep the lines of communication op

But then he dropped the next bombshell: “There’s a missing woman—one that’s been gone for over a year. We think Kennedy might have been behind it. We’ve seen signs of that kind of behavior before.” The hair on the back of my neck stood up, and a chill crawled down my spine. I swallowed hard, trying to keep my composure, but the idea of what Kennedy had likely done to other women, of the horrors he had inflicted in the name of his twisted love…it made my stomach turn. I clenched my jaw, fighting the bile that rose in my throat.

Seems she likes Ken— I turned to look at Kennedy and then picked up my book and wrote something on it then showed it to Ken who already had his attention on me when I started writing. “Ken, will she be leaving? And besides, is she truly part of the Silvercrest, and ask her who she is to the Pack!” Kennedy furrowed his brow after he read it but without asking questions, he turned to Veronica who seemed surprised knowing I was mute but I wasn't bothered. Kennedy's Voice rang in the hall bringing everyone's attention back to him, “Who are you to the Silvercrest and when are you leaving?”

My father slides the sage green folder down the shiny dining room table, it lands at my fingertips. Do I even want to see what is in the folder? I take it and open it. My jaw falls open when I see black and white images of Kenna back when we were students. I pick up a photo that has been clearly blown up. In it she is wearing her hair in a high ponytail with a baseball cap on her head, our college logo on it. She’s wearing a black, long sleeve baseball type top and skinny black jeans. On her feet she is wearing her Converse sneakers that she never took off unless we were going out to a nightclub or something.

How the fuck did Jane gain access to it. “Kennedy unlocked it,” she said before I could even ask, like she knew what I was about to ask. “How?” I almost asked out loud but figured she wouldn't even know. So I kept shut and waited for Brandon to be done. “Just so you know Mr. Knight, by the time you're done here, Kennedy would have found your wife. I'm just hoping and praying that you get her as a corpse not alive. That will teach you not to stab your own brother in the back…”

I just get the feeling he’s avoiding Kennedy for some reason, and I don’t understand. He’s been nothing but supportive of her. He even got her something after I told him her capture story. I know she told parts to my mom and Greta, but she left out the more gruesome details for them too. It’s too late for me to argue with him and I just want to get home to her. I hope she’s awake, but knowing my mother she’s exhausted from whatever they got up to today. “Josh, will you have those books put in Kennedy’s office? She can go through them and see if they are anything she wants or can use.”

I’ve never gone through Kennedy’s things before but I knew I had to prove to myself that the tracker was incorrect. With shaky hands, I opened her wardrobe. My eyes darted around but there was nothing in sight. I decided to move some clothes aside, searching thoroughly but there wasn’t anything suspicious. The last place was the drawers in the lower part of the wardrobe. I dropped to my knees, opening her drawers and lifting the books in them. Then my eyes caught something. I gasped. “No!” I shook my head. This has to be a mistake. I can’t believe what I just saw.

Kennedy: "Can't mention her? Then why did you bring up Liam?" ... The two stared at each other in silence for a moment. Tyler released his grip on her wrist and got out of bed. Kennedy propped herself up with her hands and sat up. She glanced down at her wrist, which was now a deep red where Tyler had gripped it tightly. “Barbarian.” She muttered under her breath, then stood up to pick up the notebook that had fallen to the ground. The notebook hit the ground, and Kennedy could only open it to check. A minute later, she discovered that the notebook was broken and wouldn't turn on.

Yara’s Pov I met Kennedy in the small sitting room beside the library, the one Judy rarely used because she said it felt damp and uninviting. That was exactly why I chose it. The curtains were drawn, the lights dim, and the space felt safely forgotten. Kennedy sat across from me, legs crossed, her posture relaxed but alert. She looked nothing like the quiet girl she pretended to be in front of others. There was sharpness in her eyes, and a hunger that had nothing to do with survival anymore.

Not trying to win only trying to buy time. One of the guards looked toward Kennedy. "Boss... what about you?" Kennedy calmly picked up one last photograph from his desk. The picture of Shannon. He slipped it carefully into the inside pocket of his jacket then looked around the study one final time. His books, his desk, his wife's portrait, twenty seven years. Every memory, every plan, every piece of his life existed inside this estate. He slowly exhaled. "Let's go." Meanwhile Sean stepped through the shattered front entrance. Glass crunched beneath his boots while smoke drifted through the grand foyer.
