He asked quickly. I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Doesn't work like that" I told him. "Ah man" He said sadly. "How's the pack doing?" Lorenzo asked. "They're doing" Mateo replied. "Give me the damn phone" Elena said before we heard a little shuffle through the speaker. "Todo el mundo es perfecto (Everyone's perfect" Elena said. Lorenzo quickly filled Mateo and Elena in on everything going on here. "Oh shit congratulations" Mateo said.

I sat next to him and ordered my breakfast. As soon as my coffee arrived, I started savoring it, “Mmm… Mana from Heaven.” King Mateo laughed, “I have never seen anyone enjoy their coffee as much as you do. I’m surprised you don’t drink it all day.” I started laughing, “Trust me; you don’t want me drinking more than two cups in the morning. I’m not very pleasant to be around when I have had too much caffeine.” King Mateo replied, “I can’t imagine you being anything but sweet.”

The taste is so intoxicating, it’s like melted chocolate but also like a rainy day. Only one word echoes in my mind. Mate.

Mateo answered. “ What if it's a No?” Lena narrowed her eyes. “ An answer is a Gift Lena, no matter what it is!” Mateo replied, and slowly let go of Lena’s hand. “ I'll love it if you give me an answer after the competition!” He glanced at his watch and smiled. “I….” “ I need to freshen up!” He chuckled sheepishly. “ I’m late for the competition!” He Bite on his lower lip and ran towards the Hotel lobby.

"Mate!" Carmen growled.

One word formed in my mind, striking deep: Mate.
