She jotted down a series of short sentences as an expression of her feelings on her I*******m story: 'A Mannequin Bride.'

he whispered with a cocky tone, his Adam’s apple bobbing as anticipation laced his voice. He was the man who had been tormenting her. Emerald grabbed the door handle, but it was locked tight. The terrifying realization dawned on her—she had been lured into a trap. “Baby, don’t even try,” he smirked. “Tonight, there’s no escaping me.” As the plane descended, Alaric’s phone buzzed. Emerald’s voice came through, filled with excitement, and Alaric couldn’t help but smile slightly. It seemed like she missed him too.

Red spread through the river. Eve stood behind me, holding half of a broken beer bottle, her face pale with terror. “Emma, move! They’re coming!” she screamed. I could hear shouts from a distance. People from the village were closing in. My heart raced as I frantically paddled, but the boat still moved painfully slow. The footsteps grew louder, and my heart sank into despair. Were we really not going to make it? Suddenly, Eve stood up. She smiled softly at me, her lips curving with a gentle warmth. “Emma, you have to live—for me and your mom.”

“Yeah, I’m bored. Read to me.” I gave him an incredulous expression and prepared the nastiest insult I could think of when I realized he could just call my father. Mr carter set up an emergency button on the chair that would directly contact him in case there was danger. Danger being me. Which means I am fucked. I kept my mouth shut and counted to ten. “Can I take a shower first?” “Take me to your room, I’ll wait there.” “Why?” Lucian doesn’t answer, he merely lifts his eyebrow. And he hovered his forefinger over the emergency button.

Trust. It was a word Samuel had erased from their childhood. Yet... Richard had spent one year teaching them exactly that. --- Meanwhile... Far below the fortress... Eve sprinted through collapsing corridors. Concrete crashed behind her. Sparks flew from broken electrical panels. The emergency lights flickered violently. Warning sirens screamed throughout the underground complex. She ignored them all. Her breathing grew heavier. Her white suit was stained with dust and blood from a cut on her forehead. Still... She kept running.

Halfway there, just as the city lights gave way to the darker industrial sprawl, my phone exploded with an emergency alert, three sharp buzzes in rapid succession, the kind reserved for only one person. I snatched it from the console, heart slamming against my ribs the second I saw the name. SECURITY DETAIL: EMERGENCY : Emma is not fine. She collapsed twenty minutes ago. She is in one of your hospitals. As soon as I read that, I wrenched the wheel around in a violent U-turn, engine roaring as I floored it back toward the hospital. She had won again. Because she made every useless distraction I’d tried tonight turn to ash.
