It was almost empty now—just the sleepy hum of espresso machines and a single student passed out over an economics textbook.
We ordered two iced chocolate coffees and a pack of Oreos. His favorite.
The drinks came, and I gently pressed the chilled can to his cheek, smiling sheepishly. “Better?”
He hummed. “I think I need emotional support Oreos, too.”
“You’re such a baby.”
“You abandoned me for a whole year, so yeah. Let me be dramatic.”
I rolled my eyes, but I didn’t let go of his hand. Not even once.
And for the next hour, we sat by the window, the sun melting into orange and purple hues, Oreos between us, caffeine buzzing through our veins, and the soft murmur of music playing overhead.
