He returned with a suitcase full of winter clothes, a tennis racket, and a framed wedding photo.
They stared at it.
“WHY WOULD YOU PACK MEMORIES, DAVE?!”
“I PANICKED!”
Another contraction. She grabbed his collar.
“If I die, I am haunting you.”
“Fair.”
“If I survive, I’m still haunting you.”
“Also fair, besides you should have told me about this I wouldn’t have bothered making all those plans.” Dave whispers to himself.
“Meaning?!”
“Nothing”
They waddled toward the door. Dave tried to be supportive. “Breathe, sweetheart, like the class taught us.”
