“No copies leave the room until we know what we’re holding.” Mike added, “I’ll start the baseline checks after lunch.” Kara smiled at me. “And I’ll steal you for food.” That made me smile for real. “Great.” We wrapped the books in cloth and slid them back into the glass case. Lucas left to make calls. Samantha and the healers took notes and slipped out. Mike promised he’d be back. Kara tugged me gently out into the hall. “Breathe,” she said. “It’s a lot, I know. But you’re not alone.”

His fountain pen moved with a rhythmic, scratching sound that was the literal heartbeat of their world. "An epilogue is a dangerous thing, Lyra Thorne," the Author said, his voice sounding like the wind through the pines of a thousand years ago. "It’s where the 'Reader' expects the 'Lesson' to be summarized. It’s where the 'Ache' is supposed to be put to rest. By coming here, you have 'Re-opened' the wound."

The perfect grey shade to my dark persona. "We'll stay by each other's side, always and forever" she whispers. We rest our foreheads together, "Always and forever" I promise, keeping her close to me. __________________ THE END! This book has finally ended after a long hiatus.
