The walk to the Biology lecture hall was a blur. I felt like everyone could see it on me, the bruises hidden under my collar, the way I walked a little slower than usual. When I stepped into the room, the first person I saw was Erica.
She looked... disgusting. Not because she was ugly, but because she looked so damn perfect. She was wearing a tiny, cream-colored pleated skirt and a tight cashmere sweater that showed off every curve. Her hair, usually in a messy ponytail, was down in soft, bouncy waves that smelled like expensive salon products from across the room. She was leaning back in her chair, her legs crossed, swinging a designer heel and humming to herself.
