Escape
I made my move.
I plunged the scissors into the side of his neck. He looked at me with wide eyes and fell to his knees. I didn’t stop there, I grabbed the scissors from his neck and began plunging them into his chest, one right after the other. I didn’t stop, not until I was sure the life drained from his eyes. When he slumped to the floor, I cried. From what I had been forced to do, for Scarlett, for everything this man had done. I reached for Scarlett and snuggled her to my chest. It was as I turned toward the door to make my escape, that I realized my mistake. I still had no idea how to get out.
