I stepped closer, my hands loose, ready, and the crowd parted, their murmurs growing louder, venomous.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Ethan snarled, his voice cutting through the haze, his body lunging forward. “Get the fuck out, you don’t belong here!”
I raised a hand, palm out, my voice low, steady. “I came to pay my respects, Ethan. That’s all.”
