SLADE “Yes,” I said softly as I turned away from her “Each one of them death was like a crush to my soul,” the memories of my first Beta's death flooded my mind, and I gasped. I just... showed you... what you wanted to see. A villain... to hate." Her lips were turning blue. Her eyes started rolling back. I felt her pulse fluttering against my palm like a trapped bird‚ getting weaker with every beat. Some distant part of my brain registered that I was about to kill her. "Alpha!" Rylan's hands grabbed my arm and pulled hard.

My heart nearly stopped beating. The black note trembled violently between my fingers as I stared at the three words written across the paper. THEY KILLED YOU. The room seemed to tilt around me. My mouth went dry. My pulse thundered inside my ears so loudly that it drowned out every other sound. Those words. That handwriting. That horrible feeling crawling beneath my skin. I had seen this before. Not in this life. In the other one. In the life that ended with a wolfbane dagger buried in my chest and my blood staining the healer's floor.

Darren stared at Lucas, adding, "you'll die horribly." Lucas shook his head. He didn't understand why Darren would dare to say such words. "How can I change someone like you?" Lucas looked at Darren indifferently, asking, "Only death can change you." Darren was infuriated. "Ah!" Darren could no longer endure Lucas' arrogance. He threw a punch towards Lucas. Seeing this, Everyone in the Yeager family knew that Lucas would definitely die miserably. Unfortunately, they had not expected such a scene to happen.

He could tell what she was doing and blocked her fist before it connected. "I'm not fighting the Saint." He whispered. "These people fear me enough as is." He motioned with his head to the staring soldiers. She pulled her fist away and walked off. It was clear to everyone that saw the look on her face that she was furious. Some of the spectators' stares filled with anger. 'You can be as angry as you want, it doesn't matter. Chances are most of you will die once the fighting actually starts...' Death thought.

Everything we've been fighting for. 'You better,' she sent, and I felt a flash of her temper. 'Because if you die out there, I swear to the goddess I'll find a way to bring you back just so I can kill you myself.' Despite everything, I almost smiled. That was my girl—threatening murder even when she was scared. "Ready?" Dante appeared beside me, already half-shifted, his claws out and his eyes glowing. He looked tense as hell, which made sense. This was it. The final battle. We either won today or we all died trying.

“Listen to me.” I looked at him. “This is not the end.” “How can you be sure?” “Because systems have limits.” Death spoke again. “This one may not.” Kieran glared at him. “Everything has a limit.” Death said nothing. I wiped my tears. “I won’t disappear.” Kieran squeezed my hand. “Good.” “Because I am not done fighting.” His eyes burned with quiet determination. “Neither am I.” But Death suddenly looked upward. His expression changed. “What is it?” I asked.

"Help, please! Stop doing this!" Delaney made an indignant face. "Just a few minutes ago, you were okay with the concept of killing me; why can't I? Have I not told you before? I'll return everything you did a hundred times over." With that, she summoned additional fire and stood there while it burned her without flinching.

This was depraved, whoever did this had not only killed these warriors, they had ripped them to shreds and scattered them about like some deranged child who rips the heads of their dolls. ‘Baylor, who would do something like this?’ Delania asked through the mind-link. ‘I don’t know baby, but we’ll find out. Are you alright? There would be no shame in stepping away from this mess,’ I was trying to console her because I could feel her emotions through our bond. ‘No Baylor, I’ll be alright. It’s just a lot to process,’ she murmured through the link and pressed Sarafina’s body closer to Shammus.

The rage inside me was fueling me, making me feel like I could tear the world apart. "The Queen is dead," I hissed. Then I charged again. His wolf had a look of genuine shock for a fraction of a second, the news of my mother’s death clearly hitting home, but he recovered instantly and braced himself. We collided with a sickening thud.
