Alpha Kane Laskovic: The door clicked shut behind me with a soft finality. The room was dim, lit only by the low glow of a single lamp in the corner. Eve sat curled on the couch, legs tucked beneath her, a glossy magazine open across her lap. The pages hadn’t turned in who-knows-how-long. At one in the morning, no one reads magazines. They pretend to. She looked up the second the door closed. “Heyy,” I said, voice quieter than I meant it to be.

She couldn’t help but blush too. A black van parked in front of the building, and a middle-aged man with glasses got out of the van upon seeing the two women. “Miss James, let me help you,” the man said and walked over to Karla to hold the box for her. "Thank you, Gil." After putting the box in the trunk, he took the vase from Eva's hand but froze for a second. "You…" Karla hurried to introduce Eva, but the man's eyes widened. "You are Eve House... the writer of a Thousand Alternate Universes!"

Sophia’s POV Fire. It should have swallowed her. The blast had torn through the crypt like hell waking up. Concrete crumbled. Metal twisted. Smoke thick as hands clawed at every breath. But Eve walked through it. Unburned. Unbothered. Unstoppable. She looked at me the way a god looks at something beneath notice. A tilt of her head. A flick of her gaze. And then that soft, terrifying smile. “Hello again, Mother.”

Evie said, a cold, calculating light entering her eyes. The hook of their plan didn't rely on bullets or encryption keys. It relied on the one skill Evie had mastered long before she met a Mafia King: **the power of the dead.** Before she was a writer of novels or a "widow" of a ghost, Evie had been a writer of obituaries. She knew how to look at a person’s life and find the one sentence that defined their end. She knew how to dig into the pasts of the powerful to find the rot they thought they had buried.

Evolet said with a smile on her lips. "Ok. So you don't think that I'm a spy or something?" "No! I could feel your intentions the same way you felt my so-called power." We went into my office and took a seat around the desk. "Come on! Open it! Let's see what's in there!" I said to Evolet. She nodded and opened the book. "That's weird!" She said, putting the book on the desk. "What? What is it?" Amaya asked. "The book is not complete! There are just a few things in here."

"You weren't in class today and I brought over some notes and also bought some mint chocolate ice cream. So, please let me in." I'm only doing this for the ice cream. Sighing, I drag myself off the bed and walked zombie-style to the door. I open it to find Eve with a hand full of books and a mint chocolate chip in the other hand. I snatch the ice cream, leaving her with the books. Climbing into my bed again, I dig into the ice cream and moan around a spoonful of it. Eve drops the book in her hand on the dresser and moves over to the window covered with thick black curtains.

No…that doesn’t sound right because the book is filled with spells, not really answers on what is going on or what the future holds. “About that…” Eve speaks up, grabbing the attention of everyone in the room. “I kind of have the book back in the Demon Realm.” Levi glares at his mother. The familiar flare of his anger shoots through the mate bond, fortelling the rising storm that is quickly building inside of him. “I have been trying to find the right time to bring it up.” Eve quickly explains. Judging by her face, even she knows it is a lame excuse. “Have it here by the end of the day.” Levi orders, his demonic aura seeping out to strengthen his command. Pots and dishes shattered into pieces, and chairs and tables were overturned, leaving the place in complete disarray. Mayor Kingsley’s eyes were wide with anger, his voice full of menace. “Frank, you’d better give me an explanation.
