Coming of Age the Fast Way

Coming of Age the Fast Way

The prostitute and her madam got the blame for the chaos and went to prison, I think. I nodded and pretended to be interested while trying not to let the fried egg yolk slide off my fork. Getting a whole egg yolk in your mouth in one go is tricky enough without trying to hit a moving target, so I stopped nodding as soon as was polite and shovelled the yolk in. Delicious! My favourite way to eat egg. I looked up at Vera. Her mouth had fallen open in horror. She quickly regained her composure. ‘Interesting manners, Millicent. Have you heard a word I’ve said about the parable of the Sultan?’

THE HEIRESS

THE HEIRESS

Glass in hand, he watched the skyline until dawn bruised purple over the river. Somewhere in the opposite direction, Evelyn’s light still burned. Same hour. Same city. Entirely different gods to answer to. Evelyn’s POV By morning, the world had already chosen sides…markets opened, analysts speculated, and Evelyn’s image trended again: “Heiress Defiant Amid Audit Scandal.” She closed the article without reading. Margaret’s message blinked sweet and succinct: Proud doesn’t begin to cover it, darling. Remember, lions don’t fear the hunt…they are the hunt.

World of Tomorrow

World of Tomorrow

Selecting a book from the stack borrowed from the library, Evelyn opened Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and began to read. It didn’t take long to get engrossed in the subtly delicious innuendos and risqué story of the virginal Miss Pettigrew, harmlessly swept into the louche world and taboos of her mistaken charge, Miss LaFosse. It was all too easy to draw parallels between herself and the dowdy and penurious Miss Pettigrew, leaving behind a life that was callous, cold and depressed and finding goodness in the scandalizing naughtiness of someone else. By the second chapter, she was almost in tears. She was also growing hungry and Lily still wasn’t home. Setting the book aside, Evelyn wandere

I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.

Bound By A Contract

Bound By A Contract

it was as if the two were trying to fill a blank space in it and while one was gone already —Evelyn who occupied the other did so with a lot of toxicity. Evelyn- I heaved deeply at the thought of her and the fact that I might have no other options than to spend the rest of my life with her. She was certainly someone I couldn't trust. Evelyn had that look of curious wonder in her dark eyes — it had been the most complicated look I had ever seen while staring deep into the eyes of a woman. I had thought myself to be a pro when it had come down to reading women, it was something I could easily do not with a woman as deceitful as Evelyn she made it twice as hard.

Heiress's Haunted Heart

Heiress's Haunted Heart

Michael was showering her with money. Evelyn opened her eyes to find herself covered in a sea of currency. "Oh... yes... we're fucking wealthy!" she exclaimed joyfully, clutching fistfuls of bills tightly in her hands. * Martin observed as Evelyn gracefully stepped out of the elevator. Her radiant expression made it abundantly clear that she was exuding happiness and excitement. Instead of venturing towards the exit, she made a beeline for the hotel's lavish restaurant. Martin discreetly trailed behind her, as if he too desired a meal at this opulent establishment. Seating himself at a nearby table, he observed Evelyn perusing the menu before confidently placing her order.

The Billionaire’s Breeding Vessel: Her Ruthless Return.

The Billionaire’s Breeding Vessel: Her Ruthless Return.

The kitchen on Maruw Street smelled of Marcus’s rosemary tea and the faint, sweet scent of the children’s hair. It was a domestic peace Evelyn had spent three years building like a fortress, and it fractured the moment Nina Belacourt walked through the door. They hadn't stood in the same room since the night before the wedding. Nina looked smaller than Evelyn remembered, her expensive tailored coat looking like armor she hadn't quite figured out how to carry. She stopped in the hallway, her eyes widening as they swept over Evelyn’s dove-grey wool cardigan, her unadorned hands, and then dropped to the floor where four identical pairs of dark, solemn eyes were staring back at her from behind E

Claimed By My Ex-Boyfriend's Dad

Claimed By My Ex-Boyfriend's Dad

I walked past him, but my skin crawled, as I felt his gaze burn into my back. I didn't run until I reached the room and locked the door behind me. “Hewwww! That was close”. I collapsed against the wood, gasping for air. Then I pulled the journal from behind my back. It was old, and the leather was cracked and stained. I sat on the edge of the bed and opened the first page. The handwriting was frantic, and completely different from Adrian polished writing. “If you are reading this, he has already chosen you. My name is Evelyn. And by the time you find this, I am either dead or a ghost in a city he doesn't know yet.”

Yes, Uncle; Ruin Me.

Yes, Uncle; Ruin Me.

So she said, “She was here in the room, and I was calling, but she didn’t reply.” Zaydeen, with his cold features, shrugged his shoulders and then said, “Because she was crying. In her words.” Evelyn’s fist tightened into a knot, then she said, “Nova is my daughter-in-law.” “And she is my niece-in-law as well.” He countered, his voice calm and collected, yet enough to make you quiver. Mrs. Evelyn said nothing again; she just spared me a dagger glance, turned around and walked away. The air in the room tightened and it became unbearably hard to control myself.

MARKED BY BLOODLINE

MARKED BY BLOODLINE

The timing wasn’t a coincidence. That night, Evelyn snuck out. She didn’t know what she expected to find—Lucien waiting in the shadows, or answers scribbled in forgotten books. But her feet carried her to the east wing, to the library where it all began. Everything was quiet. The chandeliers flickered overhead. Dust floated in shafts of moonlight. Her fingers grazed the spines of old tomes, titles etched in languages long dead. One book called to her—a black leather volume with no title.

Reborn to Seduce the Devil CEO

Reborn to Seduce the Devil CEO

Evelyn's POV The morning after the gala was quiet, but it was a heavy kind of quiet. I sat in the glass-walled breakfast nook of the villa, sipping a cup of black coffee. Outside, the ocean was grey and choppy, matching my mood. On the table next to me sat the newspapers. My face was on every single one of them. MILLER’S NEW QUEEN. THE ENGAGEMENT THAT SHOOK THE CITY.
