I squinted my eyes, trying to look at their faces. "Oh. My. God." I almost choked on the air I was breathing. "What is it?" Bastian asked, following my line of sight. "Do you know who they are?" I nodded, taking in the dignified posture, the movements, the aura of absolute authority around HIM—the man from Angelica Butterfly's mansion. Acknowledging that fact, I couldn't help the hysteric laughter that built in my throat. "I saw the one with black hair before," I admitted. "Except, when I last saw him, he was half naked..."

Chapter 6: Poisoned Vows The ceremonial hall of the Blackfang fortress glowed under strings of silver lanterns and the soft light of the waxing moon. Black said. Grey touched himself, puzzled. “But how?” He accepted the shirt Black handed him. “Thank you. I’ll return this next time we meet.” Grey stood and turned away from Katleya. He now faced the young man who confused his heart. Slowly, Grey removed his shirt. Black’s eyes widened at the sight of his well-toned body. Without warning, Black snatched the shirt from Grey’s hands and was the one who dressed him. “You are my baby girl, and I have a big responsibility to take care of you,” Black insisted.

She finally spoke, her voice barely a whisper, yet the sheer authority in it caused the frantic chatter on the frequency to die an instant death. "Do you all..." she began, her voice like a lover’s sigh through a graveyard, "want to catch me that badly?" She paused, a faint, razor-edged smile cutting across her lips—a smile that tasted of copper and salt. "How unfortunate for you." She raised her hand, her thumb hovering over a single, unlabelled black button on the primary console. With a sharp, decisive click, she depressed it. The entire Black Rose fleet shuddered as if struck by a tectonic shift.
