Silence was when the most interesting things happened. The abandoned wing welcomed me with a sigh of stale air and dust. No torches burned here. No guards patrolled. Moonlight streamed through broken panes of stained glass, painting the floor in fractured blues and reds. I paused at the first mural. Dragons. Not the twisted, fire-breathing monsters from the Purge stories, but creatures of impossible grace—their wings spread wide enough to eclipse suns, their claws curled gently around mountain peaks. One coiled protectively around a wolf pup, its massive head bent low as if whispering secrets.

The sight in front of his eyes were impressive. The torches lining the walls were very obviously fueled by magic, lighting up the several white statues of werecreatures and paintings of regal-looking werecreatures. Their animal-like features that they were always shamed for were fully captured in the paintings akin to human eyes or noses. The statues were also intricate and there were bigger statues depicting the ancient spirits the empire believed in.

The water shimmered like liquid glass, perfectly still despite the energy humming around it. On the walls, murals danced in shifting light. Iris stepped forward, eyes widening. There were depictions of wolves, moons, and stars—but also serpents and shadowy figures. One mural showed a wolf with both golden and black eyes, standing between two gods—one draped in light, the other in darkness. She touched it, and the pool rippled. A Glimpse of What’s to Come Without warning, the chamber darkened, and the air thickened. From the pool, images began to rise—glimpses of the future, or maybe the past.

Each puzzle seemed to reveal a piece of the story, a story I was becoming a part of. The door slid open, and I stepped into a vast chamber. The walls were covered in even more elaborate murals, depicting the origins of the Moon Wolves. I could see images of the first wolves, their spirits bonded with the moon’s power, giving them strength, wisdom, and a deep connection to the night. The murals told of their battles, their triumphs, and their losses. I felt a deep sense of reverence as I walked through the chamber, absorbing the history that was unfolding before me.

They have blue blood and are mostly scale skinned. The Wyrm class are large snake-like creatures, with no legs and purple blood. Their fangs are poisonous and the fuckers are quick. Their skin is tough but light making for good leathers, it is always black in colour. Hydra class are giant creatures that breathe fire from their multiple heads, they are rare and extremely difficult to take down. They also have purple blood.

Blessed with overpoweringly strong werewolf genes thanks to their father, they could slightly shift their fingertips to sharp clawed points, and they decorated the walls, floor, and furniture with their artistic masterpieces anytime we so much as blinked. This was unsustainable. At this rate, we might as well just put all repairs on hold until they were old enough to learn they shouldn't draw castles and dragons into expensive wood and leather. We had already stopped trying to patch up the dresser as it was. William admired the craft but could not understand any of the writings on the wall like the rest. William notices faint red paint scattered across the mural. He then activates his Sense and sees the red paint move, just like what happened with the cave painting in Ingrid's home. The writing forms into figures and begins to move as they create a story of the ones who wrote this, the Zonian.

Beneath the mural pulsed a mirrored pool, rippling though no wind stirred it. The Mirror Heart slept beneath that water. It looked like nothing and everything all at once. A shimmer. A soul. A sorrow.

The room was a haven of mystical wonders, filled with vibrant paintings that seemed to come alive with every brushstroke. As Zara entered the room, her eyes widened in awe and wonder at the breathtaking sight before her. These magical paintings were unlike anything she had ever seen - a tapestry of colors, emotions, and dreams woven together to form an enchanting masterpiece. The room felt like a sanctuary, brimming with the essence of creativity and love.
