Her story is sounding sad and he couldn't believe he’s feeling sad about it. “My father died due to high blood pressure after he found out that he lost everything that he worked hard for in his entire life to fraud. My mother died in an accident when she was rushing to the hospital after she heard of my fathers condition. They both died the same day, and it was the darkest day of my life.” she replied as the tears she was trying to hold back escaped down to her cheeks.

Someone who whispered silly stories to distract me when my chest hurt too much. He never went to school with me. He always left early in the mornings with my father. I didn’t know what they did together, but every time he came home he had new scars. Small ones. Fresh ones. Some hidden, some not. When I asked, he always joked that he and my father were “saving the world.” He told me stories about a friend he made out there someone strong, someone skilled, someone who could aim and fight better than anyone. I didn’t know what aiming meant back then, but I nodded anyway, pretending I understood because I loved listening to him talk.

“I…I slept with someone, father.” Silence. “And?” I swallow the lump in my throat. Why on earth does his voice do this to me? It’s not a baritone. It’s a light tenor, but somehow, it’s unseemingness…it reminds me of him. “The person I slept with…I…” I pause again and take a long sigh. This doesn’t even feel right. “What happened that day, child?” he asks. Good place to start. “I walked into the room, father,” I hum, closing my eyes and reliving every moment. “I saw him there…I knew who he was…”

Her hand reached out to caress his hair lovingly. "Mom, why don't I have a daddy? Today is Father's Day, everyone is talking about their dads. How good they are, and some even say their dads are like heroes. I also want to have a dad!" Stelio, now acting as Xiao Yu, expressed his feelings. Yaya fell silent. She showed regret on her face. Xiao Yu looked at his mother's face, full of hope to get the answer he wanted. Yaya sensed showing a depressed expression but still with a gentle smile.

I said and offered him a smile. “Hmm,” he sighed and closed the door behind him, while I sulked at the fact that he didn't return the smile. In my boredom, I found a pen and a sticky note. “I would rather doodle,” I said to myself before getting at it. I wait helplessly with my five-year-old Tina at the hospital for her results. Meanwhile, Xavier drives to the airport to pick up Winter and her son, Ian Becker, just so that he can feel like he has a father to pick them up. I sign the surgery consent form alone while sitting by Tina's hospital bed. Meanwhile, Xavier takes Winter shopping at the mall and even picks out a birthday present for his newly-appointed "godson". "What was Grandpa like?" My mother's expression softened. And after that... She couldn't stop talking about my father. She told him stories about how stubborn he was, how kind he was, how he laughed, how he always found a way to make people smile, how he carried me on his shoulders everywhere because I refused to walk, how he once chased a chicken halfway across the yard just because I had decided that particular chicken was my best friend. Leon laughed so hard he nearly spilt his juice. I laughed too, because I remembered that day. I remembered my father pretending to be exhausted while secretly enjoying every second of it.

If someone told me two years ago that my story would be a hit, I would laugh at it. I don't have a strong fanbase, I don't have loyal readers, I have nothing when I started writing this story. I just love writing so much that I keep on updating this story whether I get a hundred views a day or not at all.
