Charlotte’s POV I keep repeating the grounding steps my therapist taught me. Feel your feet on the floor. Count five things you can see. Breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth. Release the tension in your shoulders. Return to the present moment. It should work. It worked during the last session. It worked on the farm. But here, inside the mansion where every sound echoes with the weight of history, every grounding technique dissolves the moment something unexpected happens.

Find her” I could hear the faint voice of my hypnotherapist, but I felt I was far away from her. A distance where she would not reach my mind.

Time was ticking, and somehow I felt that figuring out the source of these visions might help figure out how to stop something horrible before it happened. “Alright,” Dr. Rhodes said with a sigh. “Do you have a comfortable place to lie down? And can you dim the lights?” “Yes.” I dimmed the lights, leaving only my bedside table lamp on, and then quickly laid down on my bed. “I’m ready.” For the next twenty minutes, Dr. Rhodes slowly guided me into a state of hypnosis. I pushed my mind to open up to the idea, but for a long time nothing happened, just like the last time that we tried. In fact, I was about to call it quits again when I suddenly felt a change inside of me.

Marcus put the agreement away and brought Fia a pillow when he returned. “You can put it behind you and lean on it. This way, your body will be more relaxed and your feelings will be much better.” Fia did as he said and realized that she was not so tense anymore. Marcus took a notebook and placed it on his lap.
