Fia slumped back on her chair as she sat in front of the dressing table. She cried out as all the suppressed disappointment and sorrow poured forth at the same time. She let out a wail before closing her mouth, trying to stop herself. Inside the bathroom, Conrad turned off the shower, trying to listen to what was happening outside. He could hear someone crying… Was it Fia? He thought that he had misheard it because he didn’t hear it anymore after a few seconds. Still, he quickly finished his shower.

Gale had her buried before she had woken up. She led the way, and in no time I saw the small grave, beside it were lilies planted around. I knew Gale had done that because of how Fia loved the flowers. He was such a thoughtful partner. Fia dropped to her knees, in front of the grave. I saw her shoulders shake uncontrollably. I watched helplessly as she cried, knowing no amount of my comfort would make her feel better. She needed this moment to herself. All this while I saw how she tried to put a strong wall between how she truly felt about her loss in front of people. I crouched down, close to her, as I noticed her sobs began to die down.

When the door opened, Celine collapsed into Fiona's arms, her body shaking with emotion. "Fiona," she sobbed, her voice broken and hoarse. Fiona's eyes widened in shock at the sight of her best friend in such distress. "Celine, what happened?" she asked, pulling Celine inside and closing the door behind them. "Why are you crying like this?" In Fiona's arms, Celine's sobs gradually subsided, her body exhausted from the emotional turmoil. Fiona led her to her bed, gently urging Celine to lie down, as she continued to offer soothing strokes along her back.
