If anything, it had smoothed further, like he believed the outcome was already decided.
“Alpha Rowan,” he greeted. “Luna Avery.”
I inclined my head once. Avery did the same.
We reviewed the agreement line by line, Kael nodding along, occasionally offering clarification that was never quite necessary. He wanted us comfortable. Wanted us to feel like equals shaping something mutual.
Ash watched him closely.
‘He thinks control is subtle,’ Ash murmured. ‘He forgets what teeth look like.’
When we reached the final section, I paused.
“This clause,” I said, tapping the parchment lightly, “is standard in Emberfall agreements.”
