Horror Nights
It was programmed to be a perfect servant, a sentinel of the road that followed every law with a devotion no human could ever possess.
When I blinked my eyes open forty minutes later, the lavender light had turned a sharp, sterile white. I looked out the window, expecting the familiar glow of my suburban streetlights. Instead, there was only the suffocating blackness of the dense evergreen forests. We were on a logging road, far beyond the city limits, climbing higher into the jagged teeth of the mountains.
"Aegis," I said, my voice cracking. "Reroute to home. You've made a navigation error."
