🌑 Chains of Eternity The gate pulsed like a living wound, bleeding light into the endless dark. Each heartbeat it gave off seemed to drag them closer, as though invisible strings tugged at their bones. But instead of stepping through, the group lingered at the threshold, their breaths heavy, the silence unbearable. Kael stood still, shoulders tight. The chains around his arms shifted against his skin, restless, as if eager to be unleashed. The whispers were louder now, threading through his thoughts until he could barely tell which were his and which were theirs.

“Please, don’t do this. Please, let me go.” I pulled against the chains, my arms aching, but it was useless. I couldn’t break free. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision under the sack. “Please, you don’t have to do this. I won’t tell anyone. I won’t say anything! Just let me go.” Donald’s laugh echoed around the room, cold and full of contempt. “You think I’ll just let you go after everything? You’re an Elyrian, Mackenzie. Your blood is the key to everything I want. You think I’ll let that slip away?”

Elinda. My heart stopped in my chest, and I gripped the phone so tightly my knuckles turned white. There she was, crouched in the corner of a dark dungeon, her eyes swollen from crying, her hands bound tightly in chains. She looked so small, so helpless, and yet I could see the fire in her eyes, the defiance that still lingered even in such a dire situation. I felt sick to my stomach. This was real. This wasn’t some sick trick.

I asked. Andy nodded, his eyes dark. “Then why? Why do you stay with him?” He chuckled sadly. “Oh, Mia. Believe me I’ve tried to leave. But I just can’t.” I watched him as pure agonizing emotion played in his eyes. His face was dark when he said, “I’m chained to him, Mia. Whether by design or fate, I don’t know. I just can’t get away from him. I hate him sometimes. But… I… I’m chained to him. I… I have these feelings for him. It’s so fucking confusing and complicated. I don’t know. I just don’t know why or how or what the fuck ever… I just don’t. He makes me happy, and then he makes me angry and pissed.”

She searched her bag for the tied clothes of those kidnapped, thinking that should do it. Ellie walked out of her office and almost collided into her father, he steadied her and they both walked to the mini sitting room, where some few high rank people were, Mrs Black was talking to an older lady who was knitting, but they stopped when Ellie and Me Black walked in, Ellie went to a corner, out of their eyes, she sat there and Andy joined her. She didn’t say anything cause they could be heard, clear and find. “What is the situation like?” Andy asked through the mind link

The electric fence hissed, alive with power. From here, the building didn’t look like much. Just steel walls sunk into the earth, a boxy shell with floodlights and watchtowers. But she knew the truth: most of it was underground. A labyrinth of labs and cells, reinforced doors and biometric locks. A prison for things the world wasn’t ready to face. And somewhere inside was Cerebus. Her best friend. Her only friend. Ellie tightened the straps on her backpack. She reached up and touched the collar dangling from it — Alpha, Beta, Gamma. The brass tags clinked softly, like the chiming of a promise.
