She laughs before climbing off the bed and scooping me up in one hand. Then the next thing she does is to rip off my head and then throw me into the garbage bin. The last thing I remember before it all goes dark is a horrible laughter coming from somewhere in the room, which is Marybelle’s real voice. So, lying there in the garbage with my body next to my head, I keep hearing that laughter till there is nothing and I assume I am dead.

Now I could clearly hear three voices discussing a plan to attack me by creating a distraction so they could abduct my mate. Their plan didn't stop there. They also intended to demand a ransom, and the ransom would be the throne of the Moonshine Pack, using Natalia as bait. My wolf snarled violently inside my head, demanding blood, as every instinct in me wanted to leap out and tear them apart. But I forced myself to remain still and listen. I caught a glimpse of two of the men. One wore a dark robe, his hair braided and his skin darker than the others. Another had tribal markings covering part of his cheek and wore shorts with a simple shirt.

Madeline smiles at them, “Thanks for the gifts.” Madeline finally heads out of the restaurant, waving a cheery goodbye to the manager.
