Chapter Eighteen: Digital princess Freya leaned back in her chair, the glow of her laptop screen painting her face in shades of midnight blue. The apartment was quiet except for the occasional clatter from her fingers tapping the keyboard. Outside, the city slumbered under a haze of streetlights and muffled car horns, but inside, she was wide awake and completely feeling giddy. She clicked through tabs, smirking at the notifications piling up. “Has anyone else noticed Xander Savage’s weird side?”

I asked hoping I would get lucky, and it would be something that I could handle. “Oh, well that’s not a problem.” She stated looking up as Damian and Roman reached the table with drinks in hands. “Damian, can we borrow your card tomorrow? Freya is in desperate need of a new wardrobe and some girl time.” She asked and I opened my mouth to object but didn’t quite get the word out in time. “Sure.” He answered taking his seat as though it was nothing to hand over control of your bank account to someone else. I paused in my objection and let out a breath, maybe this was another one of those custom differences.

She was so nervous that she began to stutter as she said, "You are a living being and I am just a ghost. Nothing good will come out of it. You'll be punished by the heavens. Just put your pants back on and pretend that I never came." Frederick smirked and continued his act. He laughed and said, "Are you afraid of me, ghost? I've seen a lot of movies when I was young. I know that evil ghosts like you are afraid of a virgin's pee. Just wait until I cover you with a virgin's pee!" With that said, Frederick continued the action of taking off his pants, but Fiona sighed in relief instead. So, Frederick wasn't trying to imitate Marshall, he just wanted to drench her in a virgin's pee.

I sat next to Freya, while I tried to pretend Derrick's gaze didn't give me chills. "Are you okay with this?" I whispered to Freya who laughed to something mum was saying. I knew Freya, she was a sensitive kid and this... was probably overwhelming for her. A muscle twitched in her jaw and she glanced at me. "No. I'm not fucking okay with this," she whispered back, her blue eyes flaring. Unlike mum and me, Freya had taken her dad's dark hair. Making her a brunette and I've never seen anyone look as hot as Freya. I knew she was causing some kind of commotion in school, judging from the fact that she was a cheerleader and a blue eyed teen.

After about an hour of searching, Freddie found a room that looked filled with holding cages, as wild animals that to his horror held his friends, soldiers with whom he used to train. Pale dragon shifters, barely alive, almost naked, some even mutilated and with missing limbs. Freddie felt his blood boiling with the fire of revenge at Y but he had fellows to save first, so that is what he did. He allowed Nathaniel and Gideon to open the cage doors for them and then helped them make a beeline towards the path he had taken to reach there, so he could get off of the island with the survivors he had found.

The sky quickly darkened, and the night was hazy. At Supreme World, the most expensive entertainment hub in Ventropolis, in the underground fighting arena, at the two highest seats, Fred had a beautiful woman wearing a sexy purple short dress seated on his lap. Her long hair was tied up using a vintage butterfly hairpin. Her face showed reluctance, but she maintained a forced smile. She peeled a grape and fed it to Fred's mouth. Fred said, "My people have found information about the person you're looking for on Truoban border. We should have a lead in about a week. Do you want me to take care of him?"

I push him out of my way as it has become one of his habits to block my way. He follows me chuckling like a hyena, while his chunky black combat boots chunk against the wooden floor. I walk down the staircase and walk near the narrow passage stage and take a seat. The curtains that cover the main stage are down; they are nice red silky curtains. Jake walks behind the main stage and turns on the music, he plays the song I have to learn the choreography to. Ironically Cheryl the beautiful blonde chose ‘Prisoner’ by The Weeknd. Maybe she did it to poke fun at me, I don’t know. But as far as I saw she’s the best out of all the strippers, she knows what she’s doing.

“You worthless piece of trash, scrub harder! Did you not eat today?” “Get away from me, you disgusting freak! You’ll dirty the floor!” “What are you looking at? You blind, ugly monster!” Fists, boots, clubs, and malicious insults became her daily routine. Eventually, Vanessa seemed to have really gone mad. She would often scrub the filth mechanically while muttering to herself in a crazed, delirious tone, “Go back… I need to go back to the modern world… Ethan, honey, take me back! This isn’t real… Since I’ve traveled through time, I must be able to travel back. I have to find a way; I need to find a way–”

I say. Fenriz sighs and crosses his arms. “That would help, but I don’t want her freaking out and sprinting into the desert,” he says, biting the pad of his thumb. “But Freya has always been the level-headed one on this, so perhaps it would be better to bring her along.” I smile up at him, then offer a warm smile to the one he’s named Freya. “Get Andreas to calm her down; I think she’ll listen to him more than she would listen to us.”
