“Fine. But only for now.”
James raised his hands in mock surrender, a smirk still on his face. Cassian ignored him, turning back to Daniel.
“Daniel,” I said finally, my voice trembling slightly with worry. “What is going on?”
Daniel opened his mouth, but Cassian spoke first. “Annabel, sit down. We need to explain this carefully.”
I crossed my arms, my body stiff with tension, and sank into one of the chairs at the table.
“There’s been a breach,” Cassian began, his voice steady but serious. “Somebody has planted a bug in the evergreen app, and confidential data has been leaked. We don’t know who is responsible yet.”
