HIS FORBIDDEN REJECTION
“It’s okay, I’ve got you.”
I cried into his chest, shaking so hard it felt like my bones rattled.
“I’m losing my mind,” I sobbed.
“No,” Ray murmured firmly. “You’re healing.”
But healing never felt this terrifying.
Three days after we returned home, the feeling got worse.
We went out onto the balcony for fresh air. The wind was cool, the sky bright with fading sunlight. Ray stood behind me, arms wrapped around my waist as he rested his chin on my shoulder.
“You’re getting stronger,” he said quietly. “I can see it.”
