She eyed me with curiosity. “Do you always wear high heels?” she asked, glancing at my four-inch stilettos, which I was wearing because Clair had forbidden me from walking around the house in socks due to the dust from renovations. “Well, most of the time, yes,” I replied casually. “They’re comfortable and go with pretty much anything. Of course, I don’t wear them to the beach, but they’re my go-to shoes.”
