Bad enough it skimmed my body so close wearing underwear was a questionable activity, the sticky bra thingies she forced me to slap on driving me nuts. The shoes were another story altogether, so high they rivaled anything Pagomaris, my demon grandmother's aide, forced me to wear on Demonicon. Sure, they made my butt look good, but the balls of my feet were killing me. And pink? Pink? Oh. My. Swearword.

Fran has gone for a small black dress that shows off her amazingly long legs while Poppy is laying on my bed in a red frilly dress. "Look at us all dressed up!" Fran says excitedly as she puts her phone back into her bag. "Shall we have a drink before we go? We have time" She asks, and my heart starts hammering in my chest as she looks at me expectantly. Even in my heels, she towers over me in hers by almost a foot it seems. "I'm um, I'm not drinking tonight" I say with a stutter as the excuse I don't have prepared tries to load in my brain. Poppy sits upright quickly and gapes at me.

Franz snapped as he stared at the pair of blue eyes that were now wide open. "Always use the same threats. You are the most annoying man in the world!" Phoebe stomped on Franz's shiny leather oxfords so she could be free from this man's embrace. "Ouch! Badass Queen is so hard to be tamed even when she’s dressed like a real queen. Wait, My Bee!" Franz felt the backs of his legs going numb for a moment, surely it would be bruised from that unexpected attack of the Barbarian Queen's killer heels. Fortunately, his shoes are limited edition with the best materials, otherwise, his foot will definitely swell crazily tomorrow.

“Shoes?” Ryan raised his brows. “What shoes?” “Sports shoes. I need a pair of lightweight sports shoes.” Ryan said, “I can shop with you, but you need to pay for your shoes.” Freya was dumbfounded. “You can’t even bear to buy me a pair of shoes? Are you strapped? It should be okay if I choose a pair of shoes costing a few hundred dollars, right?” “You’re overthinking it. I’m not that strapped.”

Her shoes were the prescribed black leather with, at most, one-inch heels but Kate inexplicably felt as though Francine was wearing stilettos.

Was there something wrong with me? Fay plopped down next to us on the loveseat, pulling me from my thoughts. She eyed me with curiosity. “Do you always wear high heels?” she asked, glancing at my four-inch stilettos, which I was wearing because Clair had forbidden me from walking around the house in socks due to the dust from renovations. “Well, most of the time, yes,” I replied casually. “They’re comfortable and go with pretty much anything. Of course, I don’t wear them to the beach, but they’re my go-to shoes.”
