April read out loud. It was a poem written by her daughter ages ago. April's heart clenched as her eyes scanned the note to read the lines penned by her daughter. My mother is... I'm sure I've heard it all. My mother is strong. She broke the stereotype of being a single mother. My mother is resilient. She raised me alone and did one hell of a job. I have medals and enough straight As to attest to that. My mother is smart. I have never had to worry about money.

They say the day a mother gives birth is like unlocking a treasure chest of infinite wonders. Each precious moment sparkles with the uniqueness of a new life, making it a day as extraordinary as the universe itself. My mother always told me that I was her greatest gift. "Look at her, George," my mother murmured, her voice a melody of affection. "Our little Rebecca, a gift from the heavens."

“Please, Miss Felicia…” Rose whispered. “My son did nothing wrong. I'm telling you the truth.” For a moment, something moved in Felicia’s eyes. Rose couldn't tell what it was. Part pity, part doubt. “Please, leave now,” Miss Felicia said. Her voice sounded final. Rose fell to her knees. “Please, I'm a single mother. He's all that I have,” she cried. Rose’s words shook her, her heart melted as she turned to Rose. She could feel her pain.

I made several attempts to no avail. Mom's lips trembled as she watched the screen. She suddenly remembered that it'd been right around 1:40 pm when the chalk broke in her hand three times during the fifth period. She'd been preoccupied with writing the lesson on the blackboard when her daughter was out there, less than 250 feet away from her, using the last of her strength to hold a pen. Mom remained frozen for a full five seconds before letting out her second shriek of the day, this one more anguished than the one she'd let out on the field.

My mom had a song for everything, silly tunes that I'm pretty sure she made up on the spot: The rain falls down And soaks the ground And soaks the trees And soaks my knees. It's funny, how well I remember the words even now. It makes me feel closer to her, so I keep indulging the memory. It soaks my head And the flower bed And soaks my toes And the tip of my nose. I suddenly realize I'm singing it out loud, but after a brief moment of embarrassment, I laugh at myself and keep going. I'm all alone - who cares if I sing? Thinking of my mom drives the loneliness away, so I keep singing, louder this time:

But Mommy believes your heart is as warm as the morning sun. Mommy's prayer for Fathia, be a resilient woman. Whatever obstacles lie ahead, Mommy hopes you'll keep moving forward. Mommy always supports you, no matter where Mommy is. Don't give up easily and always listen to your heart, dear. Mommy believes your heart will always guide you towards the truth. That's where God whispers His advice.

I made her sit beside me and starting signing song for her. Come here, my full moon, Walk slowly and eat healthy Oh my angel, I understand your trouble. With dizziness due to pregnancy You fall on my lap like a little baby... This is not a pain to me, but a pleasure You are a complete woman only after you became a mom... Just sleep on my shoulders, my angel.... Your heart is like that of an innocent child Let it sleep for sometime I am there for you after your mother Let me sing a lullaby, you sleep

"What are you doing?" Gun asked. "I will write a poem and I'll read it to Mom tomorrow," I answered. He’d have to do that when he got home from here and then keep a very close eye on everyone.
