I asked, opening my task log.
“Several,” she said and then tipped her chin toward the big printer. “Rule one: don’t jam Vinny.”
“Vinny?”
“The printer. The brand is Vinnik 7000, but we don’t say brand names for anything that breaks because then we have to file forms about it. So: Vinny. Don’t jam him. He’s temperamental, and he screams.”
“Machines scream?”
She gave me a look. “Not out loud. In our souls.” Then she added, softer, “If you do jam it, call IT quietly. Don’t tug. Don’t open compartments. Don’t be a hero.”
